The time for final projects, presentations and exams is here. But don’t stress: the library has you covered!
We have study rooms, floors for group and quiet study, and we are open 24 hours during finals. We’re putting out fun stress relievers like games and crafts, free hot beverages and the snack cart will be making an appearance, too!
Detailed calendar of extended hours and more information below. Oh, and don’t forget your Salve ID to enter the library after 10 PM.
During the 24-hour extended access times, please be aware:
- The second and third floors will close at 1 AM
- Only the first floor will remain open through 8 AM
- Card swipe access only after 10pm; please bring your Salve ID to enter (use front doors only after 12 am)
- Group work is encouraged on the first and second floors or in the study rooms
- The 3rd floor is the SILENT study floor. Please be considerate!
- The DVD side of the 1st FL is reserved for silent study after 1am
- Computer Lab 006 (Garden Level) is designated as an extra quiet study area during finals
Study rooms can be reserved online for a maximum of 3 consecutive hours. All study rooms have a whiteboard, wall-mounted display with cables for laptops/device connection, and seating for small groups; see this page for “what’s in a study room”?.
Please show courtesy to your fellow students and cancel an existing study room reservation if the room is no longer needed so that other students can use the room (to cancel a booking, see your reservation email for details or contact a librarian) for assistance.
Final projects and exams got you StReSsEd? Relax, we can help! The library’s 2nd FL Makerspace will have stress busters like games and crafts. Be sure to take periodic study breaks, get enough sleep, stay hydrated and eat every meal!We will be offering free hot beverages during finals and the mobile snack cart will be making its rounds on the evening of Wednesday, Dec. 11!
For the consideration of your fellow library users, aromatic meals such as pizza, soups, and take-out (Chinese, etc.) should be consumed in the McKillop Cafe.Please refer to our Food Policy for detailed info. Takeout foods delivered to the library front desk will be refused and returned to the delivery driver.
We ask that you please dispose of trash and recyclables in appropriate receptacles located throughout the library and report spills or messes to staff.
Alcohol, as well as tobacco or vaping products of any kind are prohibited in the library. Cell phone ringers should be disabled or turned to vibrate. Please be considerate of those around you and keep conversations to a minimum and at a low volume.
Some library computers have duplicates of the software found in Computer Labs 006 and 005. Here’s where they are in the library and the extra software that is installed.
Pod of 4 PC computers next to the Café and rear pod of 4 PCs on the DVD side:
- IBM SPSS Statistics
- Pro Tax Series (Intuit)
- QuickBooks Premier
If you need other software, try the Computer Labs in the Garden Level of the Library.
When working on library computers, make sure to periodically SAVE YOUR WORK to an external source such as a flash drive. Library computers are auto-set to restart periodically; upon restart, all saved information is lost. So be sure to use File>Save As and do not save your work to library computer desktops for long periods of time.
The McKillop Library’s public printers are multi-purpose Ricoh machines which can copy, print, and scan to email. Several features are available with these machines:
- Color printing as well as black & white
- Double-sided (duplex) printing
- Scan-to-email feature (to Salve email addresses only)
- Selection of paper sizes
- Laptop printing (Mac and PC) over the wireless network (Salve Students only; excludes Faculty, Staff and Guests.)
Print jobs can be released from any of the four Ricoh multifunction printers in the library: three on the first floor, and one each on the 2nd and 3rd floors (as well as one in the Garden Level across from User Support Services).
Students, faculty, and staff need their Salve IDs to release print jobs.
