Events: Nov. 14-18, 2011

We have many exciting events happening in the library!

International Education Week is November 14-18, 2011. To celebrate, the library is holding an “International Challenge.” Come to the library each day to receive a new quiz question, then find and submit your answer. Each evening one winner will be chosen by random drawing to receive a gift certificate to a local Newport restaurant.

The library is also exhibiting the “Capture It” Photo Contest Exhibit and “The Other Georgia” Exhibit.

Monday, November 14 @ 4-5 PM, Dr. Daniel Cowdin (associate professsor of religious and theological studies) is presents “Approcahing a Distant Beaty: The Jewish Talmud through Christian Eyes.”

Library Lessons: “Advanced Workshop in Research Methods” presents Qiqqa, a free online PDF organizer. Tuesday, November 15 @ 4-5 PM and 7-8 PM, Room 106. Refreshments will be served.

Have you ever wished there was a better way to organize all the articles that you have accumulated? There is, and it’s called Qiqqa. Julie Swierczek, Collection Services Associate, will show you the benefits of this free program. Just some of it’s features are:

  • Find citation information for each PDF
  • Annotate, highlight and tag PDFs
  • Export text and citations from the PDF into MS Word
  • Use brainstorming/visualization tools
  • Collaborate with others and more

Web Wednesdays presents “Films on Demand,” Wednesday, November 16 @ 1-2 PM in Room106.
Bring your own lunch and enjoy a free and informational presentation (we’ll provide dessert!).
Films on Demand Master Academic Collection is a streaming digital video platform, giving you access to thousands of full-length educational video andvideo clips. 
 You can browse videos in over 20 academic disciplines including Anthropology, Communication, Criminal Jusics, Mathematics, Earth Science and many more. Create a free personal account to organize videos into folders and create personal playlists for others to view.
 The Special Collections area also includes video collections from many popular sources such as:
