The ability for human beings to design themselves is not new, but developments in the fields of bio-engineering now enable us to change ourselves and our offspring in ways which were once unimaginable.
Human enhancement, whether by means of pharmaceuticals, computers or bio-electronics present us with exciting new opportunities but also new potential inequalities, which will challenge societies in the near future.
Dr. O’Callaghan received his B.A. in history at University College Cork, a postgraduate certificate in education at Christchurch College, a B.Th. in theology and his Ph.D. in systematic theology at University of Liverpool.
