New library catalog – July 1st
Effective July 1, the McKillop Library and other members of the HELIN Library Consortium will move to OCLC WorldShare, a cloud-based library management system that will include a new library catalog.
Users of the current library catalog should be aware that as of June 30, any lists of research materials saved in their personal library catalog account will no longer be available. If you wish to save these lists for future use, please contact a librarian at (401) 341-2289 or email@example.com for assistance.
Course reserves will also be affected by this transition. Faculty members who use library course reserves are encouraged to submit their reserves as early as possible before the fall semester begins. In order to guarantee availability of course reserves for the fall 2016 semester, all requests and materials should be submitted by Monday, Aug. 15.
In late August and September, librarians will offer workshops and online tutorials to assist users with the new search interface. Librarians will also be available for individual consultations to discuss research using the new tool. Librarians can also provide in-class instruction and online research guides to assist students with using the new research tool to complete specific class assignments.
Did you know we have a whole browsing area of popular books? It’s a great way to discover books for fun beach reading. Also check out our vast collection of films on DVD! Both areas are located on the 1st FL, East Wing (to the left side as you enter the front door). Come in, cool off and relax!
If you’re on-campus for one of the many conferences that Salve hosts, you are welcome to come to the library to use our computers and print your documents and boarding passes!
The computers (PCs & Macs) in the 1st FL East Wing (to the left as you enter the front doors) are reserved for use by conference attendees only. No login is necessary to use these computers. For Salve community members (faculty, staff and students) and other Guests, please use the computers on the opposite side of the 1st FL (Guests should ask at the front desk to be logged into a computer).
You also have full on-campus access to all of our 150+ research databases which include articles, streaming educational videos and audio clips on a variety of topics. Go to our library website at http://library.salve.edu to get started.

Community Borrowers Program
Not a member of Salve but still would like to borrow materials from the library? Then consider becoming a member of our Community Borrowers Program. Members of the community not affiliated with Salve Regina University as faculty, student, staff, or alumni, nor are active faculty, student, or staff at any HELIN institution, are welcome to join the McKillop Library Community Borrowers Program for a fee of $100.00 per year. Patrons must present a valid photo ID in order to obtain a community borrower’s card. Community borrowers may borrow circulating books, audio-books, and DVDs located in the McKillop Library collection only**.
**Please note: special borrowers do not have HELIN borrowing privileges or access to databases from off-campus
